Bartholomew
I'm thinking about Bartholomew today. I like it as a whole name, however it's very long and I guess it's not really usable without a nickname (without sounding really pretentious). However I'm not sure how much I like "Bart", I don't think it sounds great with an Australian accent as we often tend not to say the t's at the end of words very strongly. What else is a reasonable nickname for Bartholomew? I like the idea of Tolly but its it a bit of a stretch?Would would be a nice brother and sister for Bartholomew

Sticking to the nickname portion. I like "Tolly" and don't see it as a stretch at all. Other ideas...Arlo
Bo
Thom / Thommy

I've been thinking of Bartholomew lately too and I like Tolly as a nickname.I was also thinking Barty as a nickname, like Barty Crouch of "Harry Potter", even if it's short of Bartemius there (and perhaps has a bit of bad reputation in a way) and people who've read HP would think that. It should be a little easier with an Australian accent though, I would think. That's all I got. :)

Bartholomew, eh? Hmmm. Not my style, really, but gutsy! And I admire gutsy. :)Bart, while it loses all manner of pretentiousness, is awful. Tolly is spectacular and adorable and not too much of a stretch, in my opinion. So good. How about these nickname options:
B
Barty
Arty
Art
Tholly
Thollo
Bartho
Barmy
Barly

Eh, Bart reminds me of Bart Simpson. Maybe Bartho or Bartholo? Or Tolo?

I really like Bartholomew, I think it's very handsome. I really dislike Bart, Simpson's association aside even. I don't like Barth, either. Tolly would be my nickname of choice, but I'm not sure I totally love it. Too bad it's such a long name! It really does need a nickname.I'd name a brother or sister anything else classic, but probably not both Biblical unless they're so mainstream they don't have that Biblical vibe (like James or Elizabeth). Or more fun, I'd go for the adventurey, outdoorsy vibe of Bartholomew and pick more offbeat things like Wilder or Merritt and Mira or Rowan.

Tolly would be fine. It wouldn't matter if it's a stretch-If you decide"that's his nick-name", and call him Tolly consistently, other people will too. My goodness, I had an aunt Elsie, who was never called anything but Pat,no idea why! Even her husband called her Pat.No suggestions for a brother and sister though, sorry!I'm not good at that.

Tolly is cute and unexpected. I can't think of any other nicknames.Bartholomew's brother would be Clancy and his sister would be Winifred. :)
