One of my favourite Irish/Gaelic names! I've always loved this!

I really like Aisling. It's much, much better than Ashlyn or any of the other forms, imo.
And the meaning is really cool too.

That's so awesome, because (a) Aisling is an awesome name, and (b) it actually means dream.

I think it's a gorgeous name. I like this spelling better than Ashling or Aislin. I actually know someone called Aislinn, but she pronounces it is in a very anglicised way, like ace-lynn.

As a side note, there's a book series called the Obernewtyn Chronicles by Isobelle Carmody where many characters have telepathic abilities and can have "true dreams", and one of the books in the series is called Ashling.

It's very pretty and reminds me of the character from 'The Secret of Kells'.

The main problem with it, though, is that most people won't have any idea how to pronounce it. I wouldn't have even gotten close without being told, and I've since heard (at least) two different versions of the pronunciation anyway: "ASH-lynn" & "ASH-ling" (a little girl in my son's class pronounces it the second way which is also the one listed her at BtN).

I like that it's Irish but otherwise, not so much.

I know someone with this name who pronounces it: AYS-ling. I don't like it because of the misleading pronunciation.

I only know how to pronounce it because I looked it up; the spelling is very misleading. That right there kind of precludes me liking it.

I once knew, though only briefly and not well, an American girl with this name. To me, its sound is close enough to Ashley, a massively popular (though dropping) and ubiquitous name in the US, to render Aisling itself boring. And Ashley I've always been so meh about, it's not really bad, but there's something about it that's never grabbed me. Also, at least here in the US, the spelling and pronunciation issues with Aisling are a pain. Also Aisling looks ugly written, IMO.
