This name seems to be coming back where I live (So California), I know two babies named Cheryl, both named for their grandmothers.

Trapped in the 80's.

It's ok, I guess, in theory. But I've known 3 in my lifetime, with this spelling, and they were usually mean & bitchy. :( The Sheryls were ok, though. :b ~Heather~

I love it, and also Sheryl, because I really like dated names. However, I don't think that I'd use it--simply because there are other dated names I prefer, hehe. :) I think that its sound is surprisingly modern, considering that it was coined at the turn of the last century.Array

I don't like it. It seems very dated, a somewhat tacky invention of the 50s that feels old now. It also reminds me of Cheryl in 'The Royle Family', the chubby best friend who is the subject of much ridicule for her fad diets._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

Great name for someone who is about 56 years old.(In other words, it's very dated sounding to me.)

I have a cousin named Cheryl.. her mn is Lee. I don't know why they didn't just name her Cherylee or something like that. I don't really like it, it sounds old.Check Out Blinkyou.com for thousands of custom glitters and layouts

Well, I usually prn it like the ch in church rather than an sh sound. This idiosyncrasy is b/c my mother's name is Sheryl. :o) It's simply ok, not a favorite, but I certainly don't hate it. It's 10 times better than Sherry, imo."I can't say I was ever lost, but I was bewildered once for three days." -Daniel Boone, American explorer
