Cheryl
WDYT of the name Cheryl?

This name seems to be coming back where I live (So California), I know two babies named Cheryl, both named for their grandmothers.
Trapped in the 80's.
It's ok, I guess, in theory. But I've known 3 in my lifetime, with this spelling, and they were usually mean & bitchy. :(
The Sheryls were ok, though. :b

It is an old fashioned name and I do not like it.
I love it, and also Sheryl, because I really like dated names. However, I don't think that I'd use it--simply because there are other dated names I prefer, hehe. :) I think that its sound is surprisingly modern, considering that it was coined at the turn of the last century.

I don't like it. It seems very dated, a somewhat tacky invention of the 50s that feels old now. It also reminds me of Cheryl in 'The Royle Family', the chubby best friend who is the subject of much ridicule for her fad diets.

Great name for someone who is about 56 years old.
(In other words, it's very dated sounding to me.)

Well, I usually prn it like the ch in church rather than an sh sound. This idiosyncrasy is b/c my mother's name is Sheryl. :o) It's simply ok, not a favorite, but I certainly don't hate it. It's 10 times better than Sherry, imo.
