I've seen Circe used and I don't mind the sound of it, but I really wouldn't want it for a name. Vixen and Minx are just lol-worthy. Keane isn't so bad, but Cian is better.

Circe is a huge GP of mine. Even before Game of Thrones premiered (or the ASOIF book series was published), Circe was principally the name of a witch who tried to deceive the hero Odysseus, and therefore was a famous villain. There would still have been "push-back" in some social circles over naming a baby girl Circe. (And I say this as someone whose favorite feminine name is Morgana.) Now, though, the name would heavily be associated with a love-to-hate-her character on an HBO show, who is even crazier and less likable in the books. Use Circe with caution.

Keane is a good name, though I think it would fit better in the middle name slot.

So weirdly enough I've always associated Circe with a preset character from The Sims, though I'm sure most people won't have that association. :) I don't know GoT that well but is she the one who gets it on with her brother on the reg?

I don't like Keane, sorry. No particular reason other than I don't like the way it looks or sounds. I'd prefer Keegan or Kenan, something to soften the blow of the long "KEE" sound.

I know it isn't spelled the same, but I wouldn't want my daughter to share a name with a bitchy brother-f***er like that, even if she is fictional. Also, it reminds me of "circumcision".

I don't like Keane, and Vixen is great for a reindeer, but horrible on a person. Minx is terrible, too. Sorry.

Ach, I adore Circe. Once I fell in love with the combo Circe Ethelinda; one's a sorceress and the other means snake, though, so I seriously doubt its usability. :P I was first introduced to Circe on a character from an underrated cartoon series, and I became immediately smitten with it. I like the sound and look of it, and names with mythological ties nearly always get a pass in my book. I had no idea that there was a character named Cersei on Game of Thrones because I really don't know anything about GoT. I guess its current usability might depend on how well that character is known and what she's known for.

Big ol' no to both Vixen and Minx. The former makes me think of Owl City's Bombshell Blonde. "That vixen, she's a master of disguise! I see danger when I look in her eyes!" And Minx just makes me think of cheap, faux-fur coats.

I adore Circe! I don't think Game of Thrones renders it unusable -- the name's history is too established and extensive.

Keane is okay, and I like Vixen and Minx in theory. Jinx also appeals to me.

I always thought Circe was unusable because of the mythology characters, although maybe that was just me. Now I think of GoT.

I don't usually disfavour a name because of something in popular culture (e.g. Hermione) but I don't think Circe or Cersei is usable.

I think Circe has always been a risky name, but Cersei Lannister has made it unusable only in English speaking countries. Here in Finland (and probably somewhere else) we use a different form of Circe, that is Kirke (pronounced as KEER-keh). I actually know a person with this name and I kind of like it on her, though it seemed too odd a name at first.

Circe was never really useable. Those who don't know the name will pronounce it wrong ("serse"). Those who know the history of the name will know it as an evil sorceress who turned people into animals. Cersei Lannister has made it even more unusable, although more mainstream. I actually think Cersei is prettier and easier to pronounce than Circe.

Vixen and Minx are about as good as names for women, as Player, Studly, and Stallion would be for men.
