Adeline
This name has been on my mind for weeks. It'll pop into my head as I'm falling asleep, and start running through my mind when I'm at work. I never liked it much before, but now I'm finding all kinds of beauty in it.I have a daughter named Heidi. When I looked into Adeline, I saw that it was a form of Adelheid.
Are the two names too close to use for siblings?
What are your general thoughts on Adeline? My husband dislikes it and says it sounds like the phrase "out of line".

I think they work as a sibling set. You could use a nick name like Ada or Adele

I love the name Adeline! Partly due to the Green Day and Billie Joe and Adrienne Armstrong connection to Adeline Records but I love it! Some people say it sounds like "out of line" or "add a line" but I love it.I don't think the names are too close. Also I think Adeline and Heidi flow well (it may just be me).

I think Adeline is lovely and I don't hear anything like "out of line". For me, because I know how the names are related, I probably wouldn't use Heidi and Adeline for siblings but I don't think it's the end of the world for someone else to do so. Most of the population won't recognize anything other than similar sounds with the "d"s and long "i"s.

Are you pronouncing it like Caroline? I prefer it like Josephine. And I don't think it's at all close to Heidi - yes, the connection is there, and no bad thing, but most people will never know and if they find out, are unlikely to find it odd.

This name has also been on my mind! The only thing I don't like about the name is the confusion surrounding the pronunciation. It's a shame because that's what keeps me from allowing myself to love it. I love the "leen" pronunciation, but not so much the "line" (which is probably how the majority of people would pronounce it). I doubt anybody would even know about the connection between Heidi and Adeline, so I think it'd be totally fine to name a second daughter Adeline!

My name is Heidi and we considered using Adeline or Adelina for the very connection you mentioned. I think they sound pretty together (as a sibset), but it's not a pattern I would personally choose for my children. I would be more likely to use Heidi and Adele. As for the name itself... it's catching on in popularity because of the popular Ad-sound. It's a grounded name, and gives off feminine frill without being over-the-top (think Ameliana and Alexandrina, etc). I do like the nickname Addie, but feel it's a bit over done and would personally call her Dell or Ada. I happen to really like the name, but if your husband doesn't like it, I don't see it making it to the top of a real baby name list since agreement is key in naming kids. Outside of naming a child though - Its a beautiful name.

I like Adeline, it's pretty. Even though you have a Heidi already I still think you could use Adeline.

Heidi and Adeline are super cute together and the vast majority of people would never know they are related. I enjoy Adeline, it's very sweet without being limp. I like it more than Adelaide.
