new feature
Hi everyone! There are some new ways to play with lists of names. As you might already know, when you pull up any list of names, for example http://www.behindthename.com/names/gender/masculine, you can filter the results by pressing the "Refine Search" button. There are now two extra options here.1. filter by IMPRESSION - this leverages the ratings that BtN users have been assigning to names over the past decade2. filter by USER LIST - enter a BtN username to see the names on their (public) personal name lists. If you enter two usernames separated by commas and choose "is all of" or "is any of" then you can see the intersection or union of two personal name lists.Have fun and let me know of any bugs, questions, concerns, suggestions, etc, etc.Mike

Nifty! Please add these to the Advanced Search on the Browse Names page too!A wish list ... I wonder if it's possible to ...
- show (either on my PNL page, or on each name's own page) how many public PNLs contain a name or have had it added in the past five or so years?
- search by more than one impression (ex. wholesome AND strange AND natural)?
- exclude unisex names from searches using a gender criterion?
- The gender impression ends up being weighted really heavily when searching for similarly-rated names (from the name's rating page). Can there be an option to find similarly-rated names, without considering the gender impression?

Added to the advanced search page, thanks for reminding me.

There's this page, but it only shows the top names...
http://www.behindthename.com/stat/The information is available, it would just be a matter of finding a nice way to display it.

Just choose "is all of" instead of "is" from the drop-down menu next to the impressions.
Quote- exclude unisex names from searches using a gender criterion?
From the gender section of the search, choose "is not" and then choose "unisex".

I've been wanting to add an advanced search to the rating section so you can enter a target rating and get names returned. I think that might do what you're thinking (sort of).

Woah, awesome new features, Mike! You spoil us. :DETA: Just tried out the new user PNL feature, and it is awesome! For fun I decided to see which English male names me and Billina have on both our PNLs. lol.

Hey, Mike. When are you going to start updating the popularity lists and adding new ones? I ask you this because there are some that needs to be updated (like the ones from England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) and there are some that needs adding. I've got the popularity lists for Portugal (top 100, 2011-2014) and Galicia (top 50, 2000-2013) if you want it.
