Sterling
I'm looking for some opinions on Sterling. Too pretentious? I always had the impression it isn't very popular here on BtN. Mommy to Myrtle Nola (22-10-2012) and baby due 25-05-2015

I like Sterling. It's pretty yet masculine.
Although it does remind me of sterling silver.

I actually think it sounds kind of like a porn star's name.

I like it a lot. No, It's not pretentious at all, and even so, why does that matter? Better to be pretentious and giving your child a respectable name than to give him trash in my opinion.

I never cared for this name. It makes me think of sterling silver.

I personally hate it. It doesn't sound a bit masculine, instead it sounds incredibly wimpy.

I wouldn't call it pretentious but it does seem cold and metallic because my first thought is of sterling silver. I do rather like it though and think it could be a nice name on the right child.

I don't find it pretentious, but I really don't like it. British currency just doesn't attract me as a name (Euro? Deutschmark? Dollar?) and nor does the name for high-purity silver. Cold, hard and commercial.I'm not generally fond of geographical names, but Stirling sounds exactly like Sterling and is at least a pretty town in beautiful countryside.

It's not that kind of name I would use for my children (as a FN), but I like it somehow. It sounds sweet and strong at once. So, it has potential to become a GP of mine ;)
