Claude makes sense to me if the character is the sort of person who would, on purpose, be presenting herself as more masculine - or else her father might have called her this, and she's stubbornly held onto it.

Otherwise, there are so many nice feminine variations of Claude. Others have been mentioned; there's also Claudette.
