Claudia?
I know this may be in the wrong category (better in writing room) but anyway, it's advice on a name. I'm naming my character Claude. She is going to have a full name but that's where it gets complicated. Her real full name is Claudine, but her alias is Claudia since she's going under cover, deep cover. Since it starts right when she goes undercover, I'm questioning what to call her. Should it be Claudine? Claudia? Claude? Because I'm afraid having all three in the first chapter will be confusing especially since the readers don't know she's going undercover. Help!Don't be ashamed of your story, because one day it will inspire others.

Claude makes sense to me if the character is the sort of person who would, on purpose, be presenting herself as more masculine - or else her father might have called her this, and she's stubbornly held onto it.Otherwise, there are so many nice feminine variations of Claude. Others have been mentioned; there's also Claudette.I've always like Claudia and Claudette myself.

If she's going under "deep cover" why would she have a name that's so close to her real name? That's my only concern, it doesn't seem very logical.I like Claudine and Claudia, but not Claude.

I've found another version of Claudia which is Claudie. Maybe your character could go by Claudie or Dee as her alias, I don't know.If that's not what you what, I would suggest calling her Claudia until you get to a certain part of the story (i.e. when she reveals her true self) where you can start calling her Claudine.
I don't know how your story will play out but these are my suggestions.

Claude always struck me as completely masculine, it's also the name of my Siamese cat, so I have a hard time seeing it on a human women. So I choose Claudia.
