My name is Eugenio, which is the Portuguese translation. I don't think Eugene is that bad. I like it, actually.Eustace has a really stuffy, upper-crust image. I don't like it.

They're not for me. Unattractive and uncool in a way that is not charming to me. I would hate for my name to be Eustace. Eugene is better, a name that would strike me as uncommon but not odd if I heard it in real life, but I don't see myself falling in love with it. I do like Gene considerably more, though.

I think Eugene is perfect useable, and fairly classic too, like Gerald and Arthur and Jerome and Lewis. Eustace on the other hand is a little fustier and I think it's un-usability lies in the unclear pronunciation. Yoo-stayce? Yoo-stus? Uh-stus? It's trickier.

Love em! Totally useable. Why not?

I like Eugene... for a girl. I think it's got some edge then. But for a boy, it's kind of a joke name. Which is a shame, I do like it. It's such a lovely green colour.I'll never be able to see Eustace and not think "There was a boy called Eustace [Clarence Scrubbs], and he almost deserved it". Besides, Eustache is way awesomer than Eustace!

I love Eugene. Eustace gives me Narnia vibes. I would say they're both still usable, although Eustace less so than Eugene, and both have a very dusty vibe.

I like both names, especially Eugene. I think Eugene is totally usable, it's not uncommon. Eustace isn't unusable, but it wouldn't be particularly well-received.

Eugene is bearable, but only for the nn Gene, which is a nice, friendly uncle sort of name. Eugene alone is pretty dorky.
Eustace is just butt-ugly.

Usable. Unique, but usable. Especially next to Myrtle! That would be awesome.
Eugene Patrick?? :)

Eugene Patrick is nice. I prefer Eustace though, I think... Maybe a bit more dusty, but I wouldn't want my child to go by Gene. So that's a bit of a problem.

Eu? Rhymes with Hugh?
G? That makes a cool nickname.

I adore Eugene and Eustace, both of which complement Myrtle beautifully!

There are truckloads of Eugene people where I live, so it just seems production-line boring. It's dated, but not so dated that its owners are all extinct, and nobody would be surprised to meet a young one. It's not to my taste - don't like spondees much, and the EW sound is not encouraging.Eustace? Could work for a droopy cartoon character or as a name chosen on ordination, but certainly not as a fn for daily use by a living child.
