Opinions on Astrid
Do you like the name Astrid?I personally love it since it's not trendy or common and it sounds different without sounding exotic. I find that lots of people have mixed opinions about this name though.

I want to like it, but the American pronunciation ("As-trid") has "ass" in front of it, while the Swedish pronunciation ("AH-strid") sounds a lot like "Ostrich".

Literally my favourite name ever.

I would agree, it is a name that sounds different but not exotic. It's uncommon but not unknown. I think I want to like it more than I do. The ass part is a bit off-putting, I think. :P It has a really youthful feel to it. I know of a 2 year old Astrid who is totally adorable, but it still hasn't made me like the name any more.

I'd group Astrid with Agnes, Agatha- old, clunky names. I think it's a bit exotic, like Inga. There are probably some people in my area with the name in their family tree, but it's still not one you hear every day.

Love Astrid, it's one of my top names.

Not really. It's not terrible, but the sounds don't appeal to me.

I like it. I live in Sweden and it's quite popular here :)

I want to like it, but I don't like that it begins with ass. What if it began with sass? LOL

I don't love it, but I certainly don't hate it either. There is an appeal to it, not that I can put my finger on what it is! I would be excited to meet a little Astrid though.
