I think Gloriana is very overdone, too elaborate for my tastes. I absolutely love Gloria and don't think it needs to be exaggerated. If you're keen to use Glory, I'd either use Gloria nicknamed Glory or just Glory by itself.I think Gloria Violet sounds beautiful.

I read a book recently with a character in it called Gloriana, nn Glory. The name really fit her character (an intimidating brothel madam). I have trouble seeing it on anyone else now! It's not my type of name anyway, though, but I like Gloriana Violet. The book is called Razorhurst, by Justine Larbalestier.

I can't see it on a real person at all. It's ugly with delusions of grandeur. And I'm sure Jennifer (posted below) is right and it was a nn for Elizabeth the First. One of the Elizabeth queens, anyway.
The nn Glory seems awful too. I got a vague memory of people saying "glory-hole" and sniggering, which is probably where that feeling comes from.If I was unlucky enough to be called Gloriana I'd probably go by Rhian and never admit what my name really was ;)

I think Gloriana (nn Glory) is absolutely darling. Love it. Gloriana Violet, otoh, is way too flowery. It sounds like a type of violet. I'd also use a short mn paired with Gloriana.

I think it's lovely. I quite like Gloria, Gloriana, Glory and Glo as names. Gloriana Violet is pretty.

I'm fine with it, but there's a country band named Gloriana, and I think it's a nickname for Elizabeth I. So if you're okay with the associations, go for it. Personally, I'd stick with Gloria.

I went to school with a girl named Gloriann, but I think I'd prefer seeing Gloriana. Wouldn't call her Glory though. Gloriana Violet is pretty.

I think Gloriana is way overdone, and Gloriana Violet just sounds like a variety of plant. Like African violet and goriana violet.
I do like Gloria.

I think it's too much, and I can't warm to Glory as a nickname. It reminds me of Old Glory and glory-hole. Blech.

I prefer Gloria, which I really like. Gloriana is a bit much for me. Gloriana and Violet do go very well together though.
