HelpRory and Joscie?
As of today, we're pretty sure we'd name a boy Roland Rain (I'm pushing for the nn Rory) and a girl Joscelind Rain (prn with a very soft "d" at the end). I posted these names a couple days ago, but didn't ask for opinions, so wdyt?
Also, favorite nns for Joscelind? Jossie seems the most obvious, but I'm not sure I like the way it looks. I'm leaning toward Joscie, but not sure about that either. Ideas or suggestions?

I love Roland and Rory. Not totally sold on Roland Rain because I keep hearing it as "roll and drain" -which sounds a bit like something you'd do with a dishcloth or sponge. Roland -something- Rain would play to my ears better. Either way I love Rory and think it works fine as a nn for Roland
Joscelind is okish, but I'm not at all a fan of Jocelyn in the first place. As far as nn spellings go, Joscie looks to me like it should be pronounced like "Josie" (long "o") whereas Jossie looks to be said with a short "o". I don't care for the sounds of Jossie, I think just 'Joss' is infinitely better

I'm not sure what the third name will be yet, so it's possible the order of names may change. I was hoping Joscie would be seen as "Jossie", but even I see it as "Josie" upon first glance. Thanks.

I think Roland Rain nn Rory is absolutely wonderful! I love Roland. The spelling on Joscelind looks a little strange to me, but that's just because I've never seen it before. I like Joss, and then Jossie. Is Joscie pronounced the same as Josie? If so, I'd probably spell it like that, and it still has the letters from Joscelind.
Linnie or Jo would be great for nicknames.

Thanks, and I would prn Joscie the same as Jossie (not Josie). Do you think that would be too confusing?

I think people would definitely say "Josie" with that spelling, I like Jossie!

I really don't like Roland.
I guess there's nothing wrong with the name per se, but I find it old, dusty, dated, boring,...the list goes on. However, Roland is a pretty common name for men age 50+ here where I live.
Joscelind Rain is great, though. I would go with Joss as a nickname.

Thanks. I'm somewhat in the same boat, as I cannot picture a little boy named Roland (hence the nickname), but I still like the name.

Well, for one thing, I don't like Joscelind. But if I had to nickname her, it'd be Josie (joe-zee) or Lind/Linda.
On the other hand, I love Rory. It's adorable and sweet.

Thanks. I don't know that Incan come around to Josie , though. I had a boss who essentially fired me because I was pumping/breast feeding. Her daughter was Jozee or Jozie or Joezy, I don't remember, but that's the association I still have. Maybe I can shake it eventually.

Roland nn Rory is the best!! Rory is awesome and if he wants to sound steady and sophisticated he can use Roland.
I know a Roland nn Roly and I think it's so awful I get embarrassed calling him that >_<
Rain isn't something I'd use as a name but if you have a Sparrow and a Huckleberry (!) then I think it fits great.

Roland Rain is very very handsome. I love the combination of styles. And Rory is a perfect nickname for it - although I also would really love Ro.
Joscelind is not my style at all, but I feel like it fits very well with your other kids and I like the meaning it has for you, Joscelind Rain is very sweet.
I like the sound of Jossie - but the Joscie spelling is fine with me too.

Yes, my cousin will pick the third name. My grandma chose Gail for Caemlyn, and we're fairly confident David's grandad would have chosen Royce for Huck (he passed away when David was 13, but he was David's favorite person in the world; he desperately wanted a son named Royce, but he had 3 girls. One of them got the mn Royce anyway!)

Our kids have so many nns, so I'm sure Roland would be both Rory and Ro.
I think Jos and Jossie are the most straightforward. It just looks so odd to me because I went by Jessie for years. I guess that's really all the more reason to use the Jossie spelling.
