Patience- I do love this... more in theory than practice though, as this is not a virtue that I possess in spades...people who know me would laugh endlessly if I chose to bestow this on a child of mine ;-)
Phoebe- one of my absolute favourites
Millicent- I really do like this. And I love Millie. I just wish it didn't call millipedes (shudder) and 'militant' to mind. Still, I'd be thrilled to meet a little girl named Millicent.
Priya - I went through a long period in my early twenties wherein this was a favourite of mine. It doesn't top my lists these days, and hasn't for years, but I do look upon it with fondness.
Hattie- only as a nickname for Harriet
Morgana- not a fan, personally... it's the "morg"sound...the hard 'g' that distinguishes it from the 'org' in George names that seems harsh and is just unpleasant to my ears.
Georgiana- pretty, but I do prefer Georgina and Georgia
Prudence- I like the meaning...but can't get past "prude". Too burdensome for any girl to carry through the awkward teenage years, I think. My friend has a cat named Prudence though, and I love it on her.
BOYS:
Benjamin- this is one of my most favourite "common classic" boy names
Rufus- LOVE this, it's on my own list. It's just so cool.
Ivor- y? Igor? Not my cup of tea.
Willoughby- swoon. I don't know how practical it is though. I always ask myself when I think about naming sons...would a grown man be happy to have this as his name. I'm not sure this passes that litmus test. But it does have the ever handsome Will to fall back on.

Is Jennifer a new addition?
It is! I actually prefer just Jenny (or Jennie) and I like the fact that it was a medieval diminutive for Jane, but I don't know if it's too nicknamey. I usually don't like nicknames used as first names. I guess if I used it in real life I'd just put Jennifer on the birth certificate and call her Jenny most of the time.
It's interesting that in the US Jennifer is considered very dated to the 70's/80's, but in the UK it was in the top 100 in the early 1930s. I know Jennifers in their sixties and seventies - including my cousin's grandma. :)

I love Jenny too! I think it's adorable. So did my mom, incidentally, which is how I got a little sister named Genevieve "Genny."
I actually like Jennifer a lot more than I like most of the names popular during the 70s/80s in the US. I always pair it with Jessica, and I like Jennifer about 10 times more than I like Jessica.
Do you like Jane enough to use it as a formal name? I grew up with a Jane nn Jennie.

I also like Jennifer a lot more than Jessica, which I don't like much at all. Genevieve is lovely - I hadn't thought of that as a potential full name. Genevieve was my mum's favourite name when she was a child. :)
I don't know if I like Jane enough to use, but I am starting to like it more and more, and if I made a top 20 it would probably be in there somewhere. It's definitely one to think about!

Susannah is such a stunnah. Seriously though, even though it's not in my top ten names, I love Susannah and would seriously consider using it. It's strong, timeless, beautiful and feminine. It doesn't impose an image on the bearer - they could be a straight-laced office Sue, or, really, rather a tomboyish Sue, a girly, lacey Susie or a strong, independant Susannah. It's so wearable and adaptable and yet timelessly lovely, and I love that about it. Also, I like to see Susannah rather than Susanna. Both are pretty, but I think that -h rounds it off.
Gwendolyn is pretty, but I prefer Gwendolen. And I can't back down on that one. I just think -en seems more feminine.
Frances and Marion are both cool.
I like Alastair because it feels morbid, creepy and sinister. In person, it seems to fall flat, because it sounds witchy and mysterious and most Alastairs are pretty normal people.
I like Charles and Edward and I rather love Henry "Harry" because that's so traditional. But I really do like Gideon on other people, and I really, really, really love Jasper. I think it's fantastic.
So all in all, great choices!

Oooh, pretty.
Seraphine is gorgeous! Just so, so, so pretty. It annoys me with its prettiness, it's so pretty.
Eleanora is very nice. I still prefer Eleanor, Leonor, Lenore etc, but it's very nice.
Beatrice is awesome.
I seriously, seriously love Petra. I just... love it. I could gush over it all day. It's very exotic, strong and yet quite feminine, unusual yet easy on the ear. Historic yet modern. It's a fantastic name.
Elias and Abram are very nice.
Matthias needs more love. I hate Matthew, but stuff like Matthias is so much nicer for some reason.
Anselm is archaic and cool. A little dorky, but I can run with that.
Levi is nice, but difficult to use in the real world.
Henry is lovely, as is Frederick.
And I think I dig Malachi in looks, even if I prefer Malachy in sounds... don't ask me. I've always said Malachi as Malachy is said for some reason, and I liked it that way even though it's wrong.

Thank you! :)
Oooh. Interesting.
I madly love Keturah at the minute. It's so odd and out there that I kind of adore it. I also like the nickname 'Kit' for it and... damn it, I've just never heard it used. And it is useable. And I adore it. It's odd and archaic and beautiful.
I also dig Josephine (kind of getting tired of it, but oh well), Araminta, Ophelia and Guinevere. All pretty, especially the last three. Viola is ok too.
From the blokes, I like: August (distinguished), Bram (as a nn), Frederick, Misha (ONLY as a nickname for Mikhail. Mikhail "Misha" is one of the names I would seriously like to use for personal reasons), and Benedict and Gideon are both wonderful names. I'm psyched to see Gideon on your list!

I've been feeling similarly about Josephine lately, but when I initially listed Viola as my #2, I couldn't bear it. I guess I'm just a little irked by how difficult Josephine is to find a middle name for.
I'm happy you said August is distinguished - it's been my #1 since I was 14, now, I think. I can never bring myself to liking Abraham / Abram enough to use them as a full name for Bram, and there was a bit of a fuss when I asked about Misha as a full given name (essentially, I don't think Mikhail "Misha" would work well where I live). Gideon is another name I find impossible to pair :/

hehe I love how you put ladies and gentleman :)
you have some great names on your list
I really like
Romilly - not heard this one mentioned for a while, I really like it and feel it really fits the UK vibe
Keturah - one of my favourite biblical names
Anouk - been on my favourites list for a while
Frederick - on my list too
Rafferty - again UK vibe down to a tee
Misha - quirky, I like it
Benedict - love, especially after Mr Cumberbatch :)

Thank you! I agree, they are pretty great names :P
Thank you! :)
I love Caspian.. I'd consider using it if my name wasn't Cassie.
Aw, man! Misha is super similar to my name, so I wonder about whether or not I could really use it.
I really dislike Kieran for personal reasons. The Kieran I knew was a predator and emotional manipulator... eugh.
I like Dimitri, if with different spellings. It amounts to the same and it's a beautiful sounding name. I also like the nicknames one can get from it. Other nice names include Benedict and Frederick, both charming.
Girls names, I feel like I should like Sunniva. But...hmmm... I kinda like Philomena and Dorothea, both both of these are names I like but are on the wane for me. Katia is pretty as a nickname, and I love Marguerite as a middle name, and maybe as a first one too.

How would you pronounce Xanthe? I've heard both zan-thee and zan-tha. I love the zan-tha pronunciation but both are nice.
Ack! So many lovely names!
I love: Oscar, Samuel, Henry, Clara, Saoirse, Lyra, Mina (prefer Nina, but Mina is wonderful and I really love it as a nickname for names like Wilhelmina)
I like: Malachy, Conor, Frances, Roisin
Bridget isn't my style, but it's a family name so I have a faint fondness for it.
All in all, great!

And I think Sidney would be adorable on a pet. I would love it on a cat, a dog, a parrot. I don't much care for it on people, but it has a kind of cute-pet-name feel for me.
Octavia and Nina are stunning. I love them a lot. Nina only narrowly missed being on my list. Caroline is also very pretty. It's a delicate yet solid name which I really like. Naomi is growing on me. It has a lovely sound, but I don't -like- it for some reason. Maybe that'll change.

I love Edmund William. A classic name. Isaac, Benjamin, Samuel, Nicholas, Henry... are all very nice, traditional names. Wonderful.
The girls' names are pretty, but none grab me. Keturah Mary would be awesome, and I quite like Susannah Margaret. They're all very sensible, down-to-earth combos, which is great but means nothing really grabs my attention at the moment.

I like Tirzah, Lenore and Chrysanthemum. Very nice.
Mordecai doesn't get enough love here. It's so mysterious and moody and fusty and antiquated and odd. Ari is nice too.

I like Chrysanthemum though I prefer Chrysanthe.. I actually know a Chrisanthy.. I like Ashley for a boy too.
Violetta is pretty! I like it better than Viola, and actually it might grow on me more than Violet too.
I adore Dmitry. I prefer Dmitri or Dmitriy, but it all amounts to the same. My favourite nickname is Dima, but I also like Mitya. Wonderful. I also love. Frederick, Nicholas and Charles. Wonderful and classic.

Echo is pretty. I like the history it has, the meaning, the sound, but I don't like that it's a word. I don't think it's FN material, but it'd be a lovely middle name.
Ursa is very nice! I prefer Ursula, but Ursa would be a nice nickname for that. It's still prety, though.
Gwen is one of my favourite nicknames!
Abram is wonderful, too!
I rather love Fairuza at the minute. It's really growing on me. I also like Tanith and Margaux.
