Re: Cecil / Cecilia
in reply to a message by Rachel Shaina
I have a Cecilia named in honour of grandfathers Cecil. I love it and get so many compliments on her name. I like Cecil too though and would have considered it had I had my son before my daughter.
I really like Helena (also a family name from my husband's side but he has vetoed it..). Ari is not a favourite of mine, but it's nice. As far as chooising between Cecilia and Cecil, I would probably just wait and see what you have first, since you already have your first child's name picked out either way, as well as the second depending upon the sex. All the names sound super cute together, imo. Helena and Cecilia, Helena and Cecil, Ari and Cecilia, Ari and Cecil...yup, all adorable :)
For the record, I prefer (and chose) the spelling Cecilia, since it was to honour Cecil. I also have a name with variants and wanted to choose the most common "original" spelling for her. She still gets Cecelia sometimes, not too often so no big deal. We do call her Celia fairly regularly, fwiw.
