Lux
What do you think of Lux? I recently read The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides (amazing book), in which one of the main characters is called Lux, so I've been thinking about it lately.

2) rhymes with sucks. And... ducks.

I'm feeling pretty neutral about Lux. But I don't dislike it! There was a show on The CW called "Life Unexpected" and the main character was a sixteen-year-old girl named Lux. It seemed to suit her! Might help to hear it being used "in real life" (by that I mean, aloud on TV).

Too much League of Legends... there's a character called Lux in that game. She's a pretty one at that.

I don't love it. It feels a bit cheesy. I know a little boy named Luxton, with the nickname Lux. A bit trendy-try-too-hard, but still kinda nice too.

I like it. It's kinda GP because of its slightly cheesy meaning (though I love the meaning too. And I'm a Latin geek) but I think it could make great combos. I can see it on both a guy and a girl. (And it also makes me think of Lorde's song 400 Lux, which I love)

I think it sounds like it's tongue-in-cheek "sexy" and stage-namey. I think of Lux Interior, the singer from the Cramps. RIP. Suggests the word "luxury" long before it suggests the idea of light. I think it's a typical characterish name in a novel, but would make a really flaky name for a real person. It just seems sort of goofy.

That's where I picked it up too (but I didn't really care for the book). I like it okay, for both genders.

I first heard about the name after reading that book, too. I like it, but I think it works better for a boy.

Much too soapy. And with Lucy and Lucian so familiar, why introduce confusion IRL? In a book of course we can accept it more readily.

Rhymes with Tux.

It has an unattractive sound, and there is, or used to be, a laundry detergent called Lux.
And then there's Luxe, like deluxe, which is very tacky.

To me... and I am very sorry, but this is true... it sounds like a brand of cleaning product :|I think it might be the X on the end, when a CKS would make it lucks?

Here in Europe, Lux is indeed a brand of soap: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lux_%28soap%29;)
That's the first thing I think of.

So I was right! Soap is for cleaning ^_^It's possible we even have it here and I've seen it but not really remembered, and that's why it was in my mind as a cleaning product...

I was thinking the same thing!I want to like it. The x, the meaning, etc. but I think of the cleaning products.

And Frollein Gladys says above that it actually is one. Our instincts are correct :p
