Esther
I can't decide if I like this name or not. It feels old and grandmotherly but could be cool on someone younger. Kind of how I see Mavis, another name I can't decide if I really like or not.I used to be staunchly against it until I heard the combo Esther Lily. I'm a huge Lily fan but I know it isn't as well liked here.WDYT?

I like Esther. I know two Esthers, both in their twenties, so I no longer get an old lady vibe from it.

Esther is one of my favorite names!!! I've loved it a long time. I plan on naming my first daughter Esther. I also know of a little girl named Esther. Essie and Essa are good nicknames, if nicknames are your thing. It doesn't feel remotely old or grandmotherly to me. Old-fashioned, yes, but in the same beautiful way as Ruby or Violet or Charlotte and other older names that are coming back. I think Esther Lily is really lovely! Since Esther probably means 'star', together it could mean 'lily star' or 'star lily', which is a great image and meaning. :)

I like Esther but Esther Lily sounds too much like Easter Lily for me to like it.

I think Esther can be young. It's kind of spunky, when you think about it.

Esther feels just grandmotherly enough to be sweet and kind and used on little girls again. Especially paired with something hip like Lily. Along similar lines, I might do something like
Esther Amelia
Esther Annabelle
Esther Sophia
Esther Olivia
Esther Caroline

My cousin's wife is called Esther, she's done the name a lot of favours, it makes me see it younger - not that I really saw it as an old name to start with.Esther Lily is cute, I prefer Lillian to Lily. I like Esther Amber :)

I like it, it doesn't really sound like Mavis to me, it's got more of a timeless vibe imo.

I feel like I should like Esther, but I just don't. Add me to the list of people who hear Easter Lily. Sorry.

I love the name Esther and have a niece with this name who will be six years old in August. I also love the name Lily, even if it is really popular. Mavis I'm not so keen on though.

I like Esther. I met a girl by that name several years ago... she's probably 18 now. I loved seeing it on a young girl, and it really made me warm to the name.I don't like that it rhymes with hester, fester, lester... but I like it ok, and it's history. I wouldn't use it.I do not care for Lily and do not care for Esther paired with Lily. It runs together too much, and you know people would say Easter Lily?

I like (though don't love) Esther and would love to meet a little Esther. Esti makes a cute nn.
I also like Estelle.
Esther Lily is too much like Easter Lily imho.
If you google photos of delectably beautiful Israeli singer Esther Ofarim when she was young it should remove the grandmother image!
