Anatoli is a character in the musical Chess (by Björn and Benny from ABBA).
I got Arlo from Arlo Guthrie, but I've actually never even heard him, I just liked the name.
Artemisia is from painter Artemisia Gentileschi, so it isn't really pop culture...
Barnaby is actually from Midsomer Murders which is a rather silly series, but I think the name sounds like a frumpy old English gentleman smoking a pipe, and I like that pic!
Bram is after Bram Stoker, although I'm not really a huge fan of him. I like some frumpy names, simple as that! ;)
Branwell is after Branwell Brontë.
Carlotta, Christine and Meg ...well, you know, don't you? ;) Same with Lotte.
Carmilla is from Sheridan LeFanu's vampire novel.
Coppélia is simply a name I like, I haven't seen the ballet.
Coraline is from Neil Gaiman's novel and Yvaine is also from Gaiman (from Stardust).
Dorian is from Oscar Wilde.
Emmeline was a name I started to like after seeing it in a manga, actually. Same with Garnet, Giselle and Victorique.
Eponine and Fantine ...Les Misérables, of course.
Erzsebet is actually after Erzsebet Bathory. She was a totally mad and chilling murderer, but the story still fascinates me. How did she become SO MAD?
Evangeline and Marguerite are both names from songs I like.
Frida is from Frida Kahlo. Xochitl was a signature she used.
Ginepro and Tanaquil are names I've seen on old portraits in my art books.
Grizabella is from CATS and I only like it for a cat. Jemima is from CATS, too.
Henning is from a Swedish book series I love.
Henry is from Cassandra Clare's The Infernal Devices series.
Inigo is after architect Inigo Jones.
Isolde and Isotta ...well, Tristan and Isolde.
Jack is from a book I like.
Joni is for Joni Mitchell and Sarah for Sarah Brightman.
Junie is from a movie called Tell me that you love me, Junie Moon (I've read the book, too.)
I think I got Keren from singer Keren Ann.
Kyrie is from singer Kyrie Kristmansen, but I only like her name, not her music.
Luna and Padma are from HP.
Nolwenn is for French singer Nolwenn Leroy.
I got Prospero from a Loreena McKennit song (I know it's from Shakespeare originally).
Renaissance is a band I like.
Rusalka isn't from the opera, but from the song Rusalka's umbrella by Jenny Dalton.
Serendipity is from the movie Dogma, actually. The movie really isn't that good, but I liked the name.
Sophronia is from a steam punk novel.
Sweeney is from the musical. He's scary, of course, but I still like the name.
Thelonius is from a Swedish children's show I liked when I was little.
Tua is for Tua Åberg (now she's married and called Tua Dominique) who sang Christine in PotO in Stockholm.
Voltairine is for feminist philosopher Voltairine de Clayre.
Wolfgang - Mozart, of course!
PHEW!
Does the sea exist
Because of our longing?
