I have a very deep soft spot for Betsy, actually. After my daughter was born, for the first few months, I couldn't shake the feeling that she seemed like a Betsy. The name was not even on my radar before she was born, but after...she seemed sooooo Betsy. I did not change her name, though I did call her Betsy sometimes ;) Couldn't help myself. For the record, that faded after a few months and her actual name is definitely her true name, fits her perfectly.

It's very cute, and tempting to use to honour a beloved relative who morphed from Betsey to Betsy to Bessie. She had a sister called Ann Elizabeth and another called Eliza Mary - so her parents clearly didn't mind repetition! I would think twice about using Betsy as the registration name, though, because I'm a stickler for full names, not nns.

I prefer Betty as a nn for Elizabeth. Anyway, I don't think any old/dated name is fresh by definition.

I know a baby Betsy. She's from a family where all the kids have B names. It's not my style, but agree it's a breath of fresh air.

Hmmm...it's a bit too babyish for my taste. I prefer Betty.
