Lazer
I was reading an article about the woman who founded the Spanx company (shut up), and this is what she named her son. Apparently, he was named after his great-great-grandfather. So, WDYT of Lazer? "What matters most is how well you walk through the fire." -Charles Bukowski

Lazarus is another form. I also think of Lazar Wolf. It's ok, but I think I prefer Lazarus, and it could shorten to Lazar and not have the general population think the child's name is laser.

Is that a Taser for lazy people? Or a La-Z-Boy knockoff?

It's actually a perfectly legitimate, if outdated, Yiddish name.

I don't like it either as a name to be used now or just based on the sound, but it reminded me immediately of the character Lazar Wolf from Fiddler on the Roof. I'm assuming she has some Russian/Eastern European/Jewish ancestry. (Although, with it being her great-great-grandfather, I doubt she knew him, so it may well have been picked because "Oh, cool. It sounds like laser!"

Oh, my several socks! First Spanx and now Lazer. I'll be happy all day. Thank you!Back to business: Lazer is I suppose better than both Laser and Lazar. But that's no excuse, and neither is the great-great-granddad.

Bahaha!"She's a Killer Queen. Gunpowder, gelatine. Dynamite with a laser beam. Guaranteed to blow your mind, anytime."Thats what I think when I hear it. Its not a name to me. Its a bitchin' Queen song.

I think it's sorta weird:) although, perhaps since he was named after someone from quite awhile ago, maybe his great grand was pronounced something like Lazarus? So maybe instead of Lay-zer like we say laser, mayhap they pronounce(d) it Laa-zer ( short a as in cash)...
Just a thought. What do you think?

It's an old Yiddish name, you're right, a variant of Lazarus (really Eliezer). I've heard it pronounced LAY-zer, LAH-zer, and LAZ-er, probably depends on the family.

Ooh, one of those old names that sound like future names lol The similarity to Laser puts me off tbh, even if I find it cool, but it sounds more fitting for a space marine from 2230 to me lol
