Roslyn, Edith, Henrietta
While talking names with my fam over Christmas, my FIL joked about my SO and I using Henrietta to honor his dad, Henry. The name Edith was also brought up as it's the name of the street I grew up on. My mom said she really didn't like it but I think it's sort of sweet. And then because I just saw "American Hustle" both Edith and Roslyn have been on my mind. I like them all but dislike how Rosalyn looks and feel like Henrietta is just too long. Is Edith "Edie" ready for revival? What are your thoughts on these names?_______________________________________

Henrietta is cool. I like Hattie as a NN. I think Edith is so lovely. People immediately think of an old lady, but I think if more people stopped and thought about it they would find Edith pretty as well.I'm not fond of Roslyn. I hate the "ROZ" sound. Rosalind looks pretty to me, but again with the ROZ.

How funny - I grew up a block away from a Roslyn Road! So it's not a bit human to me ... what about Rosalie? Or Rosalind? Edith is quite good enough for use. Edie doesn't please me at all, but Edith is nice and short, so it might never happen.Henrietta is a mouthful! Perhaps you could have a son ... ? Or, I really love the shorter and livelier Harriet. It could honour Grandpa Henry pretty well. Harriet Edith would be lovely, and so would Harriet Rosalind.

Edith and Henrietta are both on my list. I prefer Rose to any of it's similar companions.
Edith "Edie" is very cute and so ready for a comeback. I think Henrietta would also be very welcome in the classroom amongst all of the Amelias and Lillys. There is also a lot of nickname potential in Henrietta, my favourite is Henny, but I also like Hettie and Etta / Ettie.

Edith and Henrietta have numbered among my favorite names for quite some time, so they're particularly dear to me. I sense that Edith is on the cusp of a minor resurrection; Henrietta, on the other hand, is not as widely appealing. As for Roslyn, although it has a pleasing sound, I vehemently prefer Rosalind and Rosaline.

Rosalyn is alright, though not my fave Rose name. I much prefer just Rose, Rosalie or Rosemary. Henrietta is nms, I just don't like the sound of it. Edith "Edie" on the other hand I love! I would love to use the name Edie in the future, but there is an Arabic word which sounds practically the same that means "my hand" and since my DH and his side of the family speak Arabic, it wouldn't work.

Im not typically into the granny names, but After reading your post I could definitely appreciate them a little more.
Edith def has me thinking twice, The nn Eddie is adorable and I dont think that Edith itself sounds too bad. I think if it was paired with the right mn it would totally work.
Edith Mary
Edith Roslyn
Edith Rosemary
Edith GenevieveRoslyn doesnt do it for me. I picture an old lady or a hispanic woman. With such strong imagery in my head and not good enough nns its nms.Henrietta at first I thought heck no, but thinking of the nn possibilities I swayed a little bit. I picture a fat lazy woman with this name and I think Im only having this imagery due to a hen laying eggs! I just cant stop thinking of a mother hen type of thing. Maybe a mn wouldnt bother me soo much.

Henrietta- I've actually been coming around to this one. I like it, in a GP way. I don't think I'd have the guts to use it.Edith- I've always liked Edith. And I'd call her Edie too. I don't think it'll be revived any time soon, but maybe within the next several decades. Right now it's still charmingly retro.Roslyn/Rosalyn- not sure which you mean because you wrote both. I'm not a fan of either, but I do love Rosalind, which is similar in sound but looks and feels completely different to me.

I like the look of Roslyn, it looks medieval. But I'm not a fan of the sound of it at all. Henrietta is nice with really cute nickname potential. Edith I think is totally adorable and I've always been surprised it's not popular! Old lady names with super cute nicknames have been the up and coming thing, so what could be more cute than Edith "Edie?!"

Henrietta is pretty, interestingly enough, it is a street where my first school was. Edith "Edie" is one of my favorites my my mother hates it and most people seem to as well.Rosalind is definitely better. If you don't like the d at the end, Rosaline is infinitely better as well.

Edith is lovely. I think it fits in with the "old fashioned names with cutesy nicknamess" trend which is still big in the UK. Edie is a nice nickname.Henrietta is fine but a bit frilly for me. I prefer Harriet.Roslyn is not my cup of tea. I like or love most Ros and Rose names, but not Roslyn. I think it's the -lyn part which seems a bit trendy. Rosalind is similar but much prettier imo.

I love Harriet, too, more than Henrietta. I'd use Harriet.

Roslyn isn't as good as Rosalind, IMO. That will always be my favorite version. Edith, "Edie" is sweet, but there is something heavy about the -ith that makes it unappealing and not very colorful; it's stark white. Blah. Henrietta is growing on me.

I love Henrietta, especially with the nickname Hattie. I don't think it's too long, I mean it's no longer than Elizabeth Edith (Edie) is adorable as well. I think both are ready for a revivial. I think the both have an old world charm and work on a professional woman but still have a cute nickname for a little toddler.I'm not as big of a Roslyn fan. It's not bad, but I prefer Rosalind or Rosamund.

I think Henrietta is a nice name. You could use Etta as a nickname. Edith is a good name, too, though as a stand-alone name.Roslyn I'm not so sure about. It's the spelling that bothers me.

Edith is in the group of grandparents' names making a return, so why not?
Henrietta could always be shortened to Hattie or Etta if it's too long for daily use.
Roslyn is fine, and goes with all of the -lyn names.
