Tabitha
What do you think of Tabitha? Is it too dated? I don't know anyone with the name personally. What are your thoughts?

I quite like Tabitha. I've never seen this name on someone outside of the tv show Bewitched. I don't think it's dated--it's quite pretty.
I don't think it is dated because it was never a super popular name of any era. It is a pretty and unusual name.
I like Tabitha; I've never known one either; and I prefer the lighter-sounding Talitha. The associations are good (women's education!) and it's more popular and so more familiar where I live. Also, lacks the cat connection, which might or might not be a good thing. I have a dark fantasy about sisters, Katharine and Tabitha, known as Kitty and Tabby.
I like the name Talitha too. I knew one little girl with this name - in Papua New Guinea. Her family pronounced the name tuh-LEE-thuh, with the emphasis on the middle syllable. BtN shows the emphasis on the 1st syllable - how would you pronounce it?
Thanks! It's interesting that the Afrikaans and Papua New Guinea pronunciations seem to be very similar. Just a coincidence I'm sure but interesting nonetheless.
I do like the name Tabitha, but prefer it for a mn. I just think it works really nicely as a mn with a lot of fns. I don't find the name dated at all. I know someone named Tabitha at school and I didn't much like her. She would always get called "Tab" or sometimes "Tabby" and I find both nns rather horrible, so that's another reason I prefer it in the mn spot.
I know two Tabithas- one is a 13 year old at the school I work at, and the other was in my class one year in high school. I keep forgetting her, though, since we never really talked to her. It isn't used enough to be dated, but the Bewitched association might date it in some people's minds.
I don't think it's really dated. It was never prolific enough to be tied down to a certain decade. I've met a few but their ages have varied drastically. I really dislike the name. It makes me think of lumpy tapioca. Gross.

Maybe it's dated, but it's still contemporary sounding. It's okay, not a favorite but it is cute.q
