Sarah
What do people here think of Sarah. Specifically, what do you think of it given it means "Princess"?

I personally dislike the name Sarah. It sounds rather sour and curdled to me-- as well as too sweet and infantile. The fact that it means "princess" pushes my distaste over the edge... it bothers me to know that most girls are brought up to not only admire them, but to idolize and be princesses.

I couldn't give a beep whether it means "Princess" or "Street-Sweeper". Really, after all these millennia, so what? That said, I find it flat, dull and uninteresting, so perhaps it is a bit princessy after all.

It has a nice ring to it, but Sarah is extremely popular among people my age. I find it boring, but it's definitely not a bad name. I like it. If I hadn't met so many girls named Sarah, the name might even be on my list. The meaning is okay.

I like Sarah. It's pretty but is too plain for me to use. Because it's so popular I know both horrible and lovely Sarahs so I don't have a particular association with it as a name. I don't really have much thoughts about the meaning. I mean it's nice I guess.

Sarah is pretty, uncomplicated, feminine, timeless...just what I like in a girl name. It's one of those names that I never grow tired of, no matter how many Sarahs I meet. The fact that it means "princess" doesn't affect how I feel about the name one way or the other. Most name meanings are unimportant and irrelevant, imo.

I like it a lot. It's pretty. The meaning doesn't bother me. I can see why it's so popular.

I love it. I think it's beautiful, classic and timeless. It may have been overused in the past, but it's currently not so popular where I live and it would be refreshing to see it on a baby or young girl. I think the meaning is lovely and I like the sound too.

I don't really focus in on the meaning of Sarah. I think it's a popular enough name that it can fit most any sort of person, but I mostly get a practical sturdy sort of vibe from it.

Sarah / Sara sounds nice enough and the meaning is nice, I suppose. I just grew sick of it years ago when every girl in my congregation was named Sarah (and every boy was named Joshua). Yeah, it's timeless, but I find it very dull. There's nothing exciting or inviting about it at all to my way of thinking.

Nothing inherently wrong with Sarah, but it was extremely overused, at least in the area that I live in, and I've known too many Sarahs, and I'm tired of it, and the meaning changes nothing about that.

I lovr Sarah!

I kind of like it. It's nice, but it's been overused for a long time and it's become pretty bland. It's not a completely colourless name for me though, and if it was a little more distinctive I think I'd appreciate it a lot more. It sounds strong. I really love Saira (prn. sigh-ra)which is very similar.
I don't really care about the meaning - 'princess' isn't a meaning that really appeals to me anyway - but I like the history, and I like how it works in so many languages/cultures.

I'm not a fan. It's so common, that many times Sarahs have to have their last initial tacked on as well. Personally, I would find that annoying. And I think the meaning makes it less desirable as a name. Princess doesn't exactly have the most positive associations in general, plus if that's why the parents use it it just sounds gushy and over-the-top.

I think it's a pretty and classic name. The meaning is definitely nice, too. I just find the name so overused it's kind of bland now. I graduated with probably 10 Sarahs and Saras. I always knew them by Sarah M. or Sarah D. So unless it really took a dive in popularity, it wouldn't be usable to me as a first name. If I really liked the name Sarah and its meaning, I'd probably use it as a middle name. You could create something with a really interesting meaning, too, if you combined a first name whose meaning went well with "princess/lady"

Bloody boring without taking the meaning into account. "Princess/Lady" is a nice meaning, which makes it a tad more interesting and makes it'a shame it's so incredibly overused.

Well, it's my name and the only thing I like about it is the meaning. The sound isn't bad, but there are just so many Sarahs out there. It was always extremely annoying to me that I couldn't just be Sarah - my last initial, middle initial, or middle name had to be tacked on there as well.

The meaning is irrelevant to me. I think it's one of the dullest, palest, safest, most ubiquitous girls' names out there. It's almost like the default Jane or Mary, only more contemporary even though it's been used just as long as those other two. It always makes me think of parents at the hospital, seeing their new baby girl, and after nine months still unable to come up with a name for her, so they say "Well, let's call her Sarah. That's a nice name."
The male equivalent in my mind is Matthew.

Well it's my name and I think it's a nice classic name. I have always liked the fact that it means princess, but not because I am a prissy princess type!!
