Re: Ursula

Ursula has been one of my favorite names since childhood, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what I end up naming my daughter (should I ever have one). The first time I heard it was, in fact, in "The Little Mermaid," and the fact that it was the villain's name didn't deter me at all from liking it - although when I told my mom (when I was little) that Ursula was my favorite name, she remarked that I was a "very strange child." :-)
I don't know why the name appeals to me so much. Maybe I like the fact that it starts with a 'U', and so few names do. It also sounds rather regal to my ears, so that helps. In another movie that I loved when I was a kid, "George of the Jungle" (with Brendan Fraser), the socialite heroine's name is Ursula Stanhope, and she's played by Leslie Mann and is really funny, which made me like the name even more.
As much as I love, love, love Ursula, though, it's really difficult to find a middle name to go with it. I've tried Caroline, Catherine, Clarisse, Constance, Florence, Frances, Josephine, Juliet, Lee, Lysandra, Maeve, Maude, Miranda, Pearl, Scarlett, Sophia, Violet, Vivian, Willow, Xanthe, and Zoe (the longest-lasting one) as middle names, always bouncing around.
