Re: Shirley

Yeah I am actually a bit surprised that Shirley isn't catching on with more vintage-loving parents. It's got the same sort of sensible wartime elegance as Lucille and Lillian which seem to be gaining in popularity. Although when you look at how the popularity over time looks, Lucille and Lillian do match up more. Shirley had that huuuuge spike in the 30's. My grandma is a Shirley (still alive). I've never thought about honouring her but if I was to do it, I'd pair Shirley with something snappy and jazzy. She used to be a jive dancer so, I'd use something that channels some energy, to keep it fresh. Maybe something unisex even. Like...Shirley Ava
Shirley Kate
Shirley June
Shirley Rita (Rita's also my great-grandmother's name. she's also still alive)
Shirley Violet
Shirley Piper
Shirley Quinn - heck yeah that's cute
Shirley Blythe
Shirley Harlow? Just pile more retro star's names on there
Shirley Monroe yeah
Shirley Allyson
Shirley Arden
Shirley Cyd
Shirley Greer? ugh
Shirley Ginger?! lol this is falling apart. Honestly I'd put it in the middle though not up front. I keep wanting to do Zoe Shirley which is terrible and I'm not sure what that's all about.
