I like Louise. It's pretty. Although I prefer the German form Luise (like the actress Luise Rainer).

Louisa is pretty as well. I'd say I prefer Louise to Louisa, but Luise is better than both.

Not sure I'd use it - don't like spondees much - but I've had Eloise as a GP for many long years.

I love Louisa. I think it has more oomph than Louise but they're both lovely and underused. My older cousin is a Louise, who gets Lou mostly. And I went to school with a Louise "Weeze". It's relatively uncommon in my age group, but funny thing is I have a uni class right now with a Louisa and a Louise in it - there's about 25 in the class altogether, so it's odd!

I think both names are nice, but I definitely prefer Louisa. Louisa sounds more fresh and vibrant to me, whereas Louise seems a little dull.

I've always loved the name Louisa! I love the sound of it and the fact that it's different without being unheard of. I like the nns Lou, Louie, or even Lucy (though maybe that's too much of a stretch?) I grew up with a wonderful neighbourhood mom named Louise, so I'm partial to that name too, but don't like the "weez" pronounciation sometimes associated with it (though she and her family always used the "ise" sound).
Also in my Spanish classes in school growing up I always took the name Luisa cause it was more exciting than the Spanish pronounciation of Laura and loved responding to "Luisa" in class. I would definitely give Louisa as a first name to a daughter one day and it's been in my top 3 fave girls names for years. Very happy to see other people are starting to appreciate these names as well!

They would definitely make good middle names. I don't love them enough to use them, but I sure would appreciate them on someone else's kiddo. Although in the middle name spot, I might also guess that they were honouring.

I LOVE Louisa so much! So pretty and classic! Louise isn't bad, but I definitely prefer Louisa.

I like them both. I don't understand why they aren't more common, especially Louisa. Louisa should be near the top 100 by now yet it isn't even in the top 1000.

I love both of them. I hope they don't become too popular. I would love to name one of my future daughters Louisa. I'm a big fan of Louisa May Alcott, too, and that doesn't hurt my love for the name.
