I love Nathan and Nathaniel (also Matthew and Matthias which mean the same) so liking Jonathan is logical but it is a bit common among my group of friends. I've known several Jonathans through the years and different ones have made me like the name or dislike it by turns. I dislike nn Jon because the sound is a separate name to me and in my experience Jonathans called Jon often get people mistaking and thinking their names are really John. Nickname Jonny isn't bad but the spelling does seem a bit odd.
One of my best friends growing up has a younger brother named Jonathan who she calls Nonny sometimes which I think is kinda cute.

Love the name Asa but not sure it goes with Jonathan very well. One of my favorite Jonathan combos is Jonathan Garrett.
