Hazel or Avery?
Which is nicer, Hazel or Avery for a girl. And can a red haired girl be named Hazel?

Hazel
And of course a red-haired girl can be named Hazel. Just as a girl named Ruby or Scarlett does not have to be red-haired.

Hazel is a great name but i'm not too keen on Avery. Of course a red-haired girl can be a hazel! Go for it!
Hazel .
Avery. Hazel has a degree of popularity on this board and I'm getting kind of tired of it.
Hazel, and yes.
Avery-this name has really started growing on me though I used to really dislike it. I know a sweet two year old Avery-that probably helps! :) Hazel is nmsaa.
I much prefer Avery (or Aubrey) over Hazel. Hazel just sounds abrasive and reminds me of Witch Hazel. Avery's perfectly acceptable for a girl now.
I definitely like Hazel better than Avery (I might be biased as Hazel is one of my favourite names). Also, red hair would suit a Hazel perfectly. :)

I think Hazel would be fine for a redhead, it's a nice name.

Definitely Hazel. Avery is a surname, is boyish, and makes me think of aviaries.
A red-haired girl could certainly be named Hazel, I think it works well.

Hazel; and yes, Hazel is more of a plant-name to me and I think it fits someone of any complexion and coloring. I think Avery is too newfangled and surnamey to grow up gracefully - seems "cute" today, but will probably seem really blah and passe in 15-20 years.

Of course a red-haired girl can be named Hazel! I worked at an old folks home for a while and there was this sweet little old lady with a curly red wig named Hazel. She used to knit me hats and scarves and mittens every winter and berets for the summer lol.
I like the sound (like, the literal sound) of Avery better though. There's something... grand about it. I can't put my finger on it.
