Uncommon but not weird, literary associations, international-sounding enough, who could ask for more?

I love Rowena! I prefer it pronounced ro-EE-nuh, but I also like it pronounced ro-WEN-uh. Rowena Valentine is a top contender if I ever have a daughter!

I like it very much; certainly enough to use. I also like the fact that it isn't Rowan with a sex change.

In Scott's novel "Ivanhoe" there are two heroines, a British girl called Rowena and a Jewish girl called Rebecca. Lovely names. I tried my best to read the book, but the world has moved on and I couldn't get very far at all. However, apparently Scott pretty well invented Rowena, basing it on Rhonwen (I think. Or Ronwen) and changing it to fit current fashions - Susannah rather than Susan, for instance.

I kind of like it. Maybe I like to look at it and think about it more than I like to say it. I see several people pronounce it different ways.

I knew a girl in college. She was always called Ro/Row and it wasn't until she dropped out that I knew her name was actually Rowena. I kind of like that nickname.

I love Rowena! It's distinguished yet quirky. I've been thinking about it a lot lately!

I really like it though it hasn't made my list, yet. It was a toss up between Rowena and Ramona to which made my list and Rowena lost out, but not by much. I think it's strong without being masculine but still decidedly female without being flimsy = very good! :)

I strongly dislike it and find it ugly. That EE in the middle reminds me of a pig call: "Sooey! Sooey! Rowena!" I prefer just Rowan.

I pronounce it as Rowen-uh. So, I like it.

I'm not overly fond of the "ee" sound in the middle, but overall, I think it's a pretty name. I prefer it pronounced ro-WEN-a, but it makes more sense to spell it Rowenna in that case.
