For some reason, I get a WWF-wrestler vibe from Vance. I don't even follow the "sport" or know if there is a Vance, but that's the picture in my mind and I don't like it. On the other hand, I could totally go for Vince/Vincent/Vinny. You are right though, it's simple, easy to pronounce/spell, yet different.

Courtney is pretty dated on a girl...but a boy... Hm. I certainly wouldn't choose it, but I don't think he'd get teased at all if it were in the middle name spot. I say go for it.
