Cicely (IN LOVE)
Yesterday I fell irretrievably in love with Cicely, and the name has not left my consciousness since. When I think about it, my soul glows, my blood pulsates, my eyes flutter, and my insides blaze. I want to scale the loftiest building and proclaim my love for all of creation to hear. I am enamored! Smitten! I feel rapturously enlivened by my love. What does everyone think of the name? I think I brought it up recently, so I apologize if anyone's weary of it; I just couldn't resist expressing my adoration of this supple, sibilant godsend of a name. I've always liked Cecilie best out of the group (Cicely, Cecily, Cecilia, Cecelia, Cecile, etc.) but Cicely definitely has charm, and a touch more spunk than the others. I see a Cicely as being more mischievous than a Cecilia. It's funny, some people see the names as colors, while I see them as characters. Maybe it's the actress in me :)Anyhow, I like Cicely Ada, but I feel like Ada takes a little of the spice out and makes it more ladylike. Which isn't a bad thing, just my feeling. Others I really like:Cicely Honora
Cicely Margot
Cicely Rosamond (again with the ladylike)
Cicely Marion
Cicely Maude
Cicely Antoinette (more of a European vibe than the English I usually get with Cicely)
Cicely Iris
Cicely Ernestine (yesyesyes I love Ernestine, although I feel like it needs to be relegated to the MN spot)Some suggestions: you have Cicely Thomasina, Cicely Tanith, and Cicely Tamar... I think Cicely Tamsin might be a nice compromise. But that could just be my love for Tamsin. Also, what about Fiona, Maureen, Bridget, Honor, or Josephine? Or Morgan? Cicely Morgan sounds strangely appealing.

Cicely's grown on me a LOT lately. I used to much prefer Cecily, which has spent a substantial amount of time in my top 3, but now Cicely's stealing a bit of the spotlight. I love the lovely green and yellow floral balance of the name. Cecily is bluer, Cicely is more vibrant. Go figure.Of your combos, I like/love* the following:Cicely Ada
Cicely Agatha
Cicely Amanda
Cicely Anna
Cicely Anthea
Cicely Beatrix
Cicely Bernadette
Cicely Charlotte
Cicely Constance

Oh, Cicely Ada. Music to my ears. And Cicely Anthea--what a surprising, balanced composition. I actually like the flowers themselves, also.I also, though unrelated, have always held a deep fondness for Cecile.Cecile Henriette, specifically.

Your combos are always so well-considered and intriguing - but I'll add Cicely Veronica because it was the name of a British historian (Dame C.V.Wedgwood) whose works I admire (she went by her middle name, so evidently didn't like her first)
Of yours I especially like Cicely Miranda and Cicely Rosamond -particularly the latter with its medieval vibe accentuated by remembrance of Rosamond Clifford.
I think Cicely is a sweet charming name.
I would never use Cecily because of the horrible meaning.
At a stretch, I could convince myself that Cicely is a flower name and hasn't that "blind" meaning at all.
But the similarity to Sicily in pronunciation might lead to confusion - that's my only quibble.

It's not bad, but it really isn't that great either. It's hissy and sissy and potentially lispy.
