Re: Imelda
I went to school with an Imelda. I fell in love with its musical qualities. Then came Imelda Marcos in the 1980s and her d*mn shoes (and rampant exploitation poor Filipinos). I knew the name would be cemented in everyone (in my country)'s mind as associated with her. I made a conscious effort not to let it happen for me so I still love it. I'd be thrilled to find out there's a whole new generation growing up who don't associate her with the name. Imelda is a gem.
