I kinda like this name.
It was nr. 2 on my list for girl names when I was pregnant with DD2.Not to sure about the meaning (rival)
Meaning was however perfect for a book character (I used the Ancient Latin Aemilia, since this spelling was fitting for the setting of my story)I know a few Emily's and they are all nice persons, not boring at all (not very exciting either just nice girls/women with calm and friendly personalities)

I don't like the meaning either. Weirdly enough I always thought it meant 'universal', like Emma. I will probably not use it at all anyway, it's too far down the list.
