I never thought of Verena nn Vera. I don't mind that. Because the emphasis of Verena is on the REE, I think it's way to close to Ria to have as sisters.

I adore Verena! Vera would be a lovely nickname.

I'm not as fond of Ria, which sounds woefully insubstantial to me (especially as a sister to the towering Verena).

Verena is quite pretty but has a major drawback - it invokes "venereal" :~(

Verena is pretty. I prefer Vera on its own, but it works as a nickname for Verena.

Verena "Vera" and Arianna "Ria" are good sister names. Verena and Ria go together as well, but the ending of Verena and Ria sound a bit too similar for my liking unless you're pronouncing the ending of Verena REN-a rather than REE-na.

There is also Aria. I don't really care for it myself, but it would work with Verena.
