Mare as in a female horse? I would have to say no to that in real life, but I love the sound and hypothetically think it's awesome. I love all the combos, Mare Fiona is especially gorgeous.Tracy is okay, I don't have any strong feelings on it either way, for either gender. It's sort of country-western feeling, so not sure if Jonathan goes well with it. But I'd agree something obviously masculine would be best.

Well, I think of it as a name first (sort of medieval sounding to me) but I actually like the female horse thing; I've always loved horses :)

I've just never heard of it as a name. It's very random noun-y. But yes, I like the horse thing too, just to think of it in real life it would seem silly to me.

My only reference is Mare Winningham but without her as a forbearer it would likely be more "nouny" to me too
