It's ok. It's nothing special where I live, has never been really trendy or very rare. It's a decent name in my opinion.

It's beautiful, but I always want to pronounce it like Serena is pronounced: vuh-REEN-uh. As opposed to vuh-REN-uh, the actual pronunciation. I don't know if I'd be able to use it in real life.

My mom has a cousin with the name.

I like it, mostly because of the sound. It sounds mature, simple, and strong. I like the sound of Verona, and Verena has many of the same sounds without being a (trendy?) place name.
I also like it because it reminds me of Veren, which reminds me of the WoT character Verin.

The overall sound and meaning are both pleasant. I prefer Vera and Serena, but I can definitely appreciate Verena.
