Funny how you mention that you love saying the names, because that's exactly how I feel about Brittany/Britney. I don't like the name, but I love saying it. It's bright and happy and energetic. I feel like I have a toothpaste ad smile every time I say it.
I like Kimberly okay. When I worked at the care home, there was a woman in her 80's named Kimberly. I thought that was neat.
However, if you strongly dislike Kim or Kimmy, I would avoid the name. I'm a firm believer that if you don't like ANY nicknames a name has, you shouldn't use it. You never know what taste your child may have, and she might like being called Kim or Kimmy. Every Kimberly I knew growing up was Kim at least SOME of the time.
I prefer the Kimberly spelling.
