Kimberly
I like the sound of this name. I also like similar names such as Tiffany and Brittany. They probably have a trashy cheerleader image but I don't care, I think they have a nice sound and I love saying them.
Do you like Kimberly?
It is still pretty common, do you know why? It doesn't make sense to me because similar names are hardly used anymore.
How many do you know?
Do the ones you know go by their full names?
I strongly dislike Kim and Kimmy, should I still use it?
Kimberly or Kimberley?

It's my name (Kimberly) and I'm kind of indifferent to it. It's not the worst name out there but it doesn't really fit into my personal naming style. I like Kimberly more than Kimberley, but I'm biased. I'd probably like it more if I was named that instead but the extra e adds orange for me that I don't really like.
I go by Kim most of the time but I noticed that when my teachers and professors called me Kimberly, students in the class who didn't know me very well followed suit and called me Kimberly as well. Also when I got to college my friends started calling me both Kimberly and Kim even though I never introduced myself as Kimberly except formally. Multiple people, some of which don't even know each other, actually switch back and forth between Kim and Kimberly because they "like Kimberly better." I don't really care either way but I found that interesting.
Kimmy stops with grade school friends and family (if they use it). I actually hated it for awhile in middle school. But seriously, rarely ever hear it now. One guy did freshman year of college who liked me, he actually used all three names, but no one else there has. A couple guys and a teacher called me Kimmy in high school, the guys picked it up after I noted no one called me Kimmy anymore after grade school. The teacher I didn't mind, she was sweet.
I haven't met any Kimberly that has gone by her full name. At most, it's usually like me and they'll go by both Kimberly and Kim. I should note that now I'm in college, usually adults ask me which I prefer, Kimberly or Kim, and they generally stick with that.

My niece is named Kimberley Paige (16). At first I was really surprised because it's rather dated. Actually, I still think it's dated. Her family calls her by the full name or Kimmy or Kim. I've always called her Kim. Actually, all of the Kimberlys I have ever known (quite a few) have been called Kim.
I think you could definitely push for the full name, however, there's no telling what she or her friends would call her.

Funny how you mention that you love saying the names, because that's exactly how I feel about Brittany/Britney. I don't like the name, but I love saying it. It's bright and happy and energetic. I feel like I have a toothpaste ad smile every time I say it.
I like Kimberly okay. When I worked at the care home, there was a woman in her 80's named Kimberly. I thought that was neat.
However, if you strongly dislike Kim or Kimmy, I would avoid the name. I'm a firm believer that if you don't like ANY nicknames a name has, you shouldn't use it. You never know what taste your child may have, and she might like being called Kim or Kimmy. Every Kimberly I knew growing up was Kim at least SOME of the time.
I prefer the Kimberly spelling.

I do like Kimberly, largely due to positive association, but also due to sound. I also know a Kimberli, a spelling I don't care for. Both go by Kim.
If she were to insist on being called Kimberly, and refused to answer to anything else, most people would fall in line and call her by her full name. I specify that *she* must be the one to insist this, not her parents. If *she* chooses to answer to Kim, that's what most people will call her. This comes from my experience with my own name. My parents both hate the usual nickname and tried not allow anyone to call me by it. I've never felt it's my name, never introduced myself by it, never signed it. I can call someone up and say, "Hi, it's *My Name*." They'll say, "Oh, hi, *Nickname*. How are you?". As I grew up, I came to realize that, when people like you, they nickname you, and I got to where I'd answer to the nickname when I recognized the voice, rather than correct people all the time, and my parents had no control over that.

Kimberly is okay, but I wouldn't use it even if I didn't already have a cousin named Kimberly. I know that o the charts it's popular but offhand I can't think of a very young Kimberly. I think the youngest I know is a teenager.
I don't know any Kimberly that regularly goes by the full name, they all seem to go by Kim. The fact that Kim seems to be the inevitable nn for Kimberly shouldn't necessarily stop you from using it, after all, you can call her Kimberly till the cows come home. It might stick with others.
But try as you might, she may decide later on that she prefers to be called Kim, and by that time it's really out of your hands.

This is my favourite name and if I had a little girl I would definitely use it in combination with Sophia - I also love both the nicknames: Kim and Kimi, but if you don't like them then you shouldn't use them.
I prefer the spelling Kimberly though I don't know why. I met a little girl last year called Kimberly who went by her full name and I also know a teeanger named this who sometimes goes by Kim though often uses Kimberly.
10/10 for me on everything! Love it!
