I really do love the name Ian, almost more than Evan, Ewan and Owen but not quite as much as Jack! :) I also love the spelling Iain because it gives it a little depth I suppose, some added intrest, so it's not just three letters.
Well there's actor Ian McKellen who was in 'Lord of the Rings' amoung many other nice movies, so I see that as more of a possitive thing. I can't think of anyone from history right now but I'm sure there are some. The only drawback I know of is in the USA people almost tend to pronounce this like Anne instead of EE-an like it should be. I still love it a lot! :)
