Scarlett - the "scar" part plus the Scarlet letter have always turned me off of this one.

I like them both but I prefer Scarlett. I kind of like the nickname Scarly.

I prefer Scarlett. I think it's pretty. I've never been a big fan of Bridget. It's just not attractive to me.

Bridget is lively and perky, and has a long and distinguished history. Scarlett? Clearly isn't a one-owner name, but really it should be. Who wants to be a scarlet(t) woman? Fiddle-dee-dee!

I think I'd rather be Scarlett. Bridget's pretty stuffy and if it weren't for its reputation as a pretty name I would think it was ugly as sin. Scarlett's a little more flamey but that's fine ~be the flame not the moth~

Definitely Bridget. It sounds sophisticated, yet a bit playful. I don't really care for the Scar- part of Scarlett. Also, Scarlett has gotten popular. Bridget would be less expected.

Bridget, definitely. It avoids the association with "scar" and the awful Scarlett O'Hara (I can't stand her).

I think both names have spunk and strength. Both can be "fiery" but Bridget's warmth comes from deep within in her character where, for me, Scarlett wears her temperament "on her sleeve". Bridget also carries an elegance I don't feel from Scarlett. While I like both names, I prefer Bridget hands down.

I like Bridget. I think it's very versatile, it's strong and practical but has a pretty side, and has cool mythological connections without being an obvious 'mythological name'. It can be very tomboyish or normal or nerdy or pretty much anything, but I think of it as the name of a strong, outdoorsy sort of person with a bit of appreciation for fantasy.

Scarlett is a lot more stunning and dramatic, but less versatile. I prefer Scarlet because Scarlett seems more frilly and Scarlet, while still dramatic, is a little more unassuming than Scarlett. Either way, it's a very red, dramatic, passionate sort of name- the kind of name that would be found on a diva, movie star, actress, etc. I think of this name as fairly 'mature' (it's a sexy sort of name, so I don't automatically picture it on a kid). I think I'd still like to meet a Scarlett (or Scarlet) but it wouldn't fit nearly as many people or personality types as Bridget.
