Re: Miranda
in reply to a message by Lily
I love Miranda! As I just mentioned yesterday, it was one of my favorite names when I was a teenager, I was ridiculed for that by my older sister, and took pleasure in telling her years later that I still liked the name and it hadn't been a stupid teenage phase.I'm surprised that it isn't more popular, also. I wish that some of the Amandas out there had been Mirandas, instead. It did have a spell of popularity in the 90s, but it was never so high that you could call it overused.I say go for Summer Rain. What the heck? Sure, it's a little cheesy, but it's whimsical, too, and I don't think that it's so cheesy as to be embarrassing.

Interesting that your sister made fun of you for liking Miranda. What did she think was so bad about it? Did she just not care for the sound of it?I definitely prefer Miranda to Amanda, too. I've met a bunch of Amandas, but I can only recall actually meeting two people named Miranda. Too bad some of those Amandas weren't named Miranda.

She just said that Miranda was ugly and it made her think of Carmen Miranda. And, apparently, time did not change her opinion, either.
