Thoughts on Alba
I seem to get a mixed response about Alba. It seems to be either a love or a hate name. For me it sounds fresh and light but still substantial and strong. What are your opinions on the name. Whether you love or hate it what makes you feel that way about it? What would you expect a girl with this name to look like? What would you think if you met an Alba? Does it age well? Also any mn suggestions?

I really don't know how I feel about it! I can imagine it working on a little girl, because it fits the four-letter-ending-in-A pattern of so many common names (Lyla, Emma, Anna, Aria, Isla, Cara...) but for some reason it sounds more old fashioned. I would be pleased to meet a young Alba, but also somewhat surprised!

It's okay, but it makes me think of the word "bulb". Alma is much softer and prettier.
I'm not very keen on the way it sounds, and it doesn't sound youthful to me.
I really like it, but then the other day i put a cd on and boticed that the cd player brand was ALBA. Despite that, I think it's a nice name, and I love the meaning.
Yes, Alba would age well. In fact it brings to mind a short, dumpy middle-aged woman whose dark hair is frowzy and who wears mismatched tops and skirts, with old-style nurses' shoes to complete the look.
Because of these images, I just can't like Alba, even though on the face of it, it might have appeal as a name along the lines of Elsa or Alma.
