I have the same problem

I adore Charlie as a fn for a boy. It is probably in my top 3 at the moment but I'm not sure I can abide by putting it on a birth certificate. At the same time, I really dislike Charles and I don't know how I would go putting that on a birth certificate either. I think it definitely can work on its own and I know men named Charlie and it doesn't seem juvenile on them (like Ricky or Petey or Johnny does). At the same time, I wouldn't want my kid coming back to me when he is grown and asking why I didn't just give him a formal fn.
I love Charlie so much that I have kind of resigned myself to using Charles as a fn but I'd always call him Charlie and introduce him as Charlie. If he decided to go by Charles as an adult, I wouldn't like it particularly but Charles is a perfectly fine name that would stand him in good stead, just not my pick.
Charlie Thomas
Charlie Oisin
Charlie Sean
Charlie Oscar
Charlie Jasper
Charlie Tobias
Charlie Vincent
Charlie Robert
Charlie Daniel
Charlie Xavier
Charlie William
Charlie Jackson
Charlie Frederick
Charlie Sinclair
Charlie Nicholas
Any you like?
