Too evangelical by far; plus, my mother knew one who was always called Vangie. Not good.

I like Evangeline. I definitely agree with others who say it's rather excessive, but that's part of the charm. I think there's a difference between being excessive and frilly, and I think something about Evangeline's sound prevents it from being overly frilly. I also like that there's a number of nickname options.

I am not fond of it! I think it sounds clunky and weird, also have a bad experience with on.

It is classic, professional, subtly beautiful, a gem with a Victorian air-- but too ornamentally delicate for my taste.
Evangeline also never fails to bring to mind a character (played by Kelly MacDonald) in the 2005 film Nanny McPhee... which is a bit distracting, as it is the only lasting image I have for the name.I feel as if I have encountered many bearers in the recent years, too... popularity, while not an obstacle for some, would flicker my faith in bestowing that name to a child.- Francesca
