Nova... on a boy?
We were watching 16 and pregnant and a girl had a baby Nova (middle name Star which is stupid!). Dave and I both said at the same time, I really like the name Nova.. for a boy! (very freaky).
Its really grown on me. I don't think i'd actually use it. But do you think Nova could work nicely on a boy.
I think with a nice masculine traditional middle name it would be great.
eg.
Nova Theodore
Nova Maxwell
Nova Ambrose
Nova Caspian
Nova Sebastian

Personally, if it were a boy's name, I would use it as a pet NN. Either that or a middle name. I don't think it looks good as a first name. For example, instead of Nova Sebastian, or Nova Caspian (both of which I DO like), I would go with Sebastian Nova and Caspian Nova. It just "flows" better for me.
P.S. I'm a "teen" and I think "Nova Star" is one of the stupidest names ever. Especially spelled that way. If I had named her that (and there is NO WAY I would ever name a child that), it would've been more along the lines of "Noevah Starr".. That poor kid... Lol.

This is my mom's name and since, every time I see/hear it, I see my mother, I'm gonna go with no on boy's name. ;)
I only like the name Nova for wood and stone varnish. For a human, it'd be relevant for such a short time and silly for an entire lifetime.
I wouldn't use it on either gender, but esp. a boy.
Yes, I've heard this before....Was reading a design magazine in which an architect had a teenage son named Nova. I think it fits right in with Ezra and gives boy's names another "a" ending possibility.
To me Nova is sort of out there but unisex and could work on either a boy or girl.
Nova Star is stupid indeed...

no...
It's a girls' name, and it's a middle name with the first name Chevy or Chevrolet.

In a weird way, it does sort of work. More interesting than on a girl, imo. But it'd just be a really bad idea to name a boy this. Maybe in 100 years it won't seem as out there. But for now, it'd just get too much teasing and embarrassment.
NO!
What's so masculine about the name Nova?

Huh. I can sort of see this working. Personally I like Nova on a girl much better though.
Nova Sebastian is cool. Also Nova Caspian and Nova Ambrose... Nova Cassander, Nova Caldebaran, Nova Corbinian, Nova Callixtus, Nova Claudius, Nova Constantius, Nova ((insert long frilly C name here)).
Anything but Nova Cain :P

No! I don't think Nova could ever work on a boy, especially in modern times. It doesn't sound or feel masculine at all. Maybe a celebrity's kid could get away with it, but not an average child. Heaps of teasing potential like 'supernova' etc.
It is a feminine Latinate name, so no.
