Marjorie
What do you think of the name Marjorie?

Fraggle Rock
It also makes me think of the Trash Heap on Fraggle Rock, but at least she was a wise trash heap. :-P

Whenever I hear Marjorie I immediately think of Hugh Laurie gasping, "Marjorie?!" in A Bit of Fry & Laurie. Can't get past it, so my opinion is pretty low haha.
I kind of like it... mostly due to positive association and the fact that it's not overdone.
I love it!
I'd love to see it make a comeback -- I think it can easily fit a child as well as an adult.

I adore it! It reminds me of gingerbread and red-haired maidens. I also love Margery.
It's my great aunt's name and my SO's grandma's MN so it may just come up in the naming process some day. I like the name in full but I HATE the idea of it being shortened to Marj
it's kind of cute...
In a grandmotherly way. Hard to picture it on a younger woman or a child.

I would so like to see Margery/Marjorie make a comeback. This name has been suppressed by margarine long enough, imo. Marjorie is my favorite spelling, mostly because I think Jorie would be a cute nickname possibilty for parents afraid of Marge.
lol at the margarine suppression bit.
:-D

I love it! I went to elementary school with a girl whose younger sister was named Marjorie, and I always thought it was so pretty. It's so happy and upbeat, and sweet and huggable and makes great cookies. I also like the white, red, and purple in it and think it goes great with the way it feels.

I couldn't have said it better myself. :-D

I don't particularly like it. It makes me think of margarine and Marge Simpson, which is a shame because actually I think it has a pretty sound when you think about it objectively. I think Marjolaine is really pretty.
I like it and Margery, too. Both would be adorable on a young girl.
I've always rather enjoyed it, and the Marjorie people I've known have been very pleasant; and that includes a couple of Margery people and a Marjory!
I know one Marjorie who goes by Muffy; the others tend to be Marge if they aren't Marjorie full-time.

I can only think of Marge and Margie, which sound bad to me, but what's worse is that I knew a Margie growing up and she was an old, mean crotchity lady who had a cluttered house and no teeth. She was abrasive and had a husky voice... That will always be Marge/Margie/Marjorie to me.
I do, however know a Jorie who is named after her aunt Marjorie and I think Jorie's OK. So maybe if it was Marjorie nn Jorie I would be OK with that too.
