It sounds nice enough, but always makes me think of the bear... My other association of it is the city of Prince Rupert, B.C. However, neither of those are bad associations, so it's worth keeping on the maybe list.

I like it, although I do think of Rupert the bear. I think Rupert George or Rupert Miles are handsome.

I like it, it's my brother's name - and one of my nephew's middle names, after my bro. I've met several others, too. I couldn't use it because it would be way too confusing, but these sound good to me:

I have never met a Rupert, not even a dog. The only Rupert I know about besides Rupert Murdoch is, years ago the local radio station ran commercials for a used-car parts yard and later a beachfront restaurant, and the pitchman was this guy doing a goofy redneck impersonation and calling himself Rupert. So I also think of it as a hillbilly cartoonish name.

I like Rupert, but not sure about the nn's of Rupe and Pert. Which tends to bring me to Rudolf instead because I do like the nn Rudy. Are there commonly acknowledged nn's for Rupert I haven't heard of or do families make up ones that don't relate or do families tend to use the full name (which is a wee bit stuffy)?

I like it but I always think of Rupert Grint (played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies) and Stewie Griffin's teddy bear on Family Guy.

Rupert is my all-time favourite name: if I had my way, I would definitely name my future son this. However, since many seem to think the name is too old-fashioned or snobby, I think the chance is considerable that my future partner will think so, too. As a result, I will probably end up making a compromise and putting Rupert in the middle name spot. *sigh*
