with Brooke and River, why not?

I met a girl last week named Brooke. I know it's a popular name but as I was driving home I thought to myself, I wonder why "Meadow" isn't catching on. Honestly, you almost forget that Brooke is a stream. River is getting popular too now and trendy. Willow is acceptable. I met someone last year who named his son Forrest. Why not Meadow? It has the trendy "ow' ending similar to Shiloh or Harlow and is a nature theme...I think it could take off. I actually kinda like it the more I think about it.
It would stand out and be a "hippy nature" name at first but maybe it would become as commonplace as Brooke down the line. And anyway, most names that end in -ly mean meadow or clearing. For instance, Kimberly means King's Meadow or Ashley means from the Ash tree clearing. Why not cut out the middle man? It would be easier on a girl but the right boy might be able to rock it. I'd use it for a girl though, personally. I could see Meadow aging well and people would definitely remember her name. I say go for it!

It's cute and sweet, especially for a middle name. As a first name, it's a bit cheesy-hippy-ish.

I like it but I don't love it. I prefer Metope (like the Greek nymph) nn Meadow :)

I think it's nice enough. Pretty. Not too dippy or over the top. A cool sound.

It would be horrid on a boy. On a girl, I just find it silly. As a middle name it would be fine.

I used to watch the Sopranos and the main character's daughter's name was Meadow so I automatically think of a girl when I see the name Meadow.

I think it's rather dippy, honestly.

Because the imagery is pleasant for me, I could enjoy it in the middle name slot. As a first name, it doesn't feel quite substantial enough. That said, I have nothing against nature names and enjoy many of them. I don't consider this to be a bad name or a mean thing to do to a kid.

I love it. I remember seeing the combo Meadow Katherine somewhere and loving it.

Not a fan. It reminds me of cows but besides that I just don't like the look or sound of if. It's not an appealing name. The meaning of the word/name is appealing but not the actual word.

Like I said in my response to your favorites list, I ran into a five- or six-year-old Meadow on Friday whose mom was addressing her as Meadow. I was surprised at how patchouli-scented it didn't seem. It just seems like another modern nature name. Like Rain and River and Autumn, only somehow it seems less of a standout than those. I did not expect that. I thought it was over the top, until I heard it used. Maybe I'm getting jaded from being around young children all the time, and unique names have become so common.

I still think it might sound too childlike for a grown woman. The image evoked is one of innocence. It's ... you know, pastoral? haha. Not very complex. That's most of why I'm not a fan of it. The other problem I have with it is that I think of cow patties. But that's only when I consider the name without a person attached to it.

I am not a big Meadow fan. It lacks substance, as far as I'm concerned.

It seems goofy, cutesy. Like I can picture a bunny rabbit or a deer in a Little Golden Book named Meadow, but aside from that, it's Meadow Soprano all the way.

I don't like it, it makes me think of Bambi.

I like it. I think it would work in reality.

I love it as a middle name. I think it could be sweet as a first name but honestly I'm just not daring enough to give it a try so for now, its in my middle name list.

While I see the appeal of it I found it slightly silly. It's nmsaa and I'd find it very odd on someone.
