Oh my word, too cute!
Ernie? Nessie? Tinie (teen-ee)? Heck yeah!

I'd react the same way I would to a young Geraldine--with a smile and no small amount of delight.
I think Ernestine is clunky and unpretty but in a wonderful, unexpected, fun way.

I actually think my reaction would be very positive as well.
I swoon.
I would be equally excited and surprised. I really like it, it's so amazingly awkward, and it's loving and boisterous. But I would never expect to see it in real life.
awful :s
Pretty much what Emily used to be like before it went viral - grave but with a pretty twinkle. Muff and bonnet in winter, muslin with ribbons in summer. Distant cousin of Little Women. Good!
But, since earnestness has gone right out of fashion, I don't see it catching on. (DH's father was named Ernest after a friend of his father's, though he never used it; DH also has Ernest as a fn, and he's never used it either. I broke that tradition into fragments!)

The meanest lady I ever met was named Ernestine......
